As our client continues to grow and innovate, they are seeking an experienced VP - Finance & IT to join the executive leadership team. A well-established manufacturing company in the central Ottawa area, celebrated for its outstanding product and exceptional customer service, this role is your chance to lead the charge in shaping the company’s financial and technological future while preparing for exciting opportunities, including potential mergers and acquisitions (M&A). Reporting directly to the CEO, this position is responsible for driving financial integrity, operational efficiency, and technological advancement.

Key Responsibilities

Financial Strategy & Leadership:

  • Develop and execute financial strategies that align with the company’s business objectives.
  • Provide data-driven insights and recommendations to guide strategic decision-making.
  • Lead financial planning, budgeting, forecasting, and risk management initiatives.
  • Drive financial and operational efficiency through benchmarking and process improvements.

Accounting & Financial Operations:

  • Oversee day-to-day accounting functions, ensuring accuracy and timeliness.
  • Maintain and enhance internal controls to safeguard financial integrity.
  • Ensure compliance with tax regulations and timely filing of obligations.
  • Oversee the preparation of financial statements and management reports.
  • Manage cash flow and ensure accuracy in financial systems.

IT & ERP Implementation Oversight:

  • Lead the selection, implementation, and rollout of a new ERP system to support growth.
  • Align IT strategies with business goals, focusing on scalability and data integrity.
  • Ensure robust IT security measures are in place to protect company data.
  • Foster cross-departmental collaboration to achieve seamless ERP integration.

Team Leadership & Development:

  • Lead and mentor finance and IT teams, fostering a culture of excellence and accountability.
  • Provide training, career development, and succession planning for team members.
  • Champion change management initiatives, promoting adaptability and continuous improvement.

Mergers & Acquisitions (M&A) Support:

  • Play a key role in preparing the company for potential M&A activities.
  • Conduct due diligence, financial modeling, and integration planning for future acquisitions.

The ideal candidate will have a CPA designation and a bachelor's degree in finance, accounting, or a related field, with an MBA being an asset. You will have a minimum of 15 years of progressive financial leadership experience, preferably in a small to mid-sized private sector organization. You will bring a strong understanding of the manufacturing industry and cost accounting, financial reporting, cash flow management, budgets and forecasting and internal controls. You will have experience working within an owner managed environment where you have built cohesive and high performing accounting teams. Experience overseeing IT functions and leading ERP system implementations is highly desirable. You will have proven expertise leading an organization through M&A activities and understand the due diligence and requirements. You will demonstrate excellent analytical and strategic planning skills, and strong communication abilities to help roll out your vision for a high functioning accounting and finance team.
