Job Description

Our client, located in Vaughan, ON is seeking a Systems Requirements Engineer to join their team. This is a permanent, full-time position, reporting to the Application Centre Manager. Your primary responsibility will be to gather and track customer specification requirements as inputs to internal and system-level requirements. Key responsibilities include:

  1. Review customer requirements and specifications, managing the compliance matrix for projects.
  2. Provide support in the creation of system architecture through the analysis of product/system requirements.
  3. Evaluate technical solutions in terms of meeting functional requirements and complying with applicable norms and standards.
  4. Create requirements and test specifications in alignment with corporate and industry standards.
  5. Utilize the ALM tool to input and capture stakeholder requirements, as well as ensure traceability through managing exceptions and listing assumptions/questions between customers and internal teams.
  6. Perform system-level reviews and track development status, while supporting the development team in resolving engineering issues and cost-down initiatives.
  7. Provide support for users of the requirements management tool as required.
  8. Contribute to the further development and continuous improvement of the requirements gathering and configuration management processes.
  9. Contribute to the change management and configuration management processes.

Requirements:

  1. Bachelor’s Degree or Diploma in Electrical/Electronics Engineering, Mechatronics, or related discipline.
  2. 5+ years of requirements management or system design experience within an Electrical/Electronic/Mechatronic product development environment (automotive industry is preferred).
  3. Working knowledge of electronics and controls as it relates to functionality (stand-alone and in-system), performance, specification and regulatory compliance, test/validation, etc.
  4. Knowledge of automotive industry standards such as IATF 16949, ASPICE, and ISO 26262.
  5. Strong English communication skills (written, verbal, and presentation) with the ability to communicate and present at all levels.
  6. Strong computer skills, proficient with MS Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
  7. Able to compose clear, concise, and accurate engineering reports, including suitable conclusions and recommendations.
  8. Knowledge of product/system development processes such as V-Model.
  9. Knowledge of ALM tools (such as PTC Integrity/Windchill), Enterprise Architect, and SAP is an asset.
  10. Excellent organizational skills with the ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
