About the Role:
Our client in the Real Estate industry is seeking a dynamic, detail-oriented Supervisor for their Property Accounting team. This role presents a fantastic opportunity for growth and development for someone who is diligent, a collaborative team player, and passionate about the real estate industry.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead, mentor, and evaluate a team of property accountants
- Prepare and analyze reports for Asset Management regarding the properties in your portfolio
- Develop analytical reports related to billing, payables, and cash collection cycles
- Prepare and review the annual final CAM and Tax billing, including Excel model development and lease audits
- Communicate with investors as needed
- Assist in the management of commercial real estate dispositions and acquisitions, including entries, reconciliations, and onboarding processes
- Oversee the preparation and review of month-end and recurring journal entries
- Compile and review monthly reporting packages, including financial statements
- Prepare and review quarterly reporting packages, including financial statements, work papers, and supporting schedules
- Manage the preparation and review of intercompany chargebacks
- Prepare and review the annual budget
- Handle the preparation and review of tenant/vendor chargebacks as necessary
- Manage cash flow and cash calls as required
Qualifications:
- Post-secondary education in Accounting, Finance or related field of study
- Working towards or already obtained a CPA designation strongly preferred
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in real estate accounting or 2 years of auditing experience with real estate clients at major accounting firms
- Ability to review peer accountants' work promptly and provide effective coaching and mentoring
- Strong attention to detail, with the capability to organize and manage multiple tasks while meeting deadlines in a fast-paced environment
- Excellent communication skills
- Familiarity with MRI software is considered an asset
