Position Title: Software Development Manager
Location: Ottawa, ON
Work Model: Flexible Hybrid - 2-3 days per week onsite.

Our client, a recognized leader in the AI and Machine Learning space, is seeking a Software Development Manager to lead and inspire a high-performing development team. In this role, you’ll be responsible for managing, mentoring, and developing a talented group of software engineers—ensuring they meet both team and organizational goals. You’ll provide honest, timely feedback, foster professional growth, and continue to stay hands-on with code when needed.

The ideal candidate is a true people leader—someone who knows how to bring out the best in their team, build strong collaboration, and drive performance. You’ll play a key role in sprint planning, cross-functional collaboration with product and design teams, and delivering impactful projects in a fast-paced, innovative environment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead, mentor, and develop a high-performing software engineering team.
  • Drive project delivery from planning through release, ensuring quality and timeliness.
  • Partner with product management and design to deliver on exciting new initiatives.
  • Stay involved in coding and technical decision-making as needed.
  • Foster a culture of collaboration, innovation, and continuous improvement.

Requirements
  • Post-secondary education in Computer Science or a related field.
  • Proven background in software development and full SDLC delivery, ideally with Angular, Typescript, Java, Spring Boot, and cloud technologies.
  • Strong experience in Agile environments, including sprint planning and prioritization.
  • Demonstrated leadership experience—coaching, mentoring, and performance management.
  • Excellent communication skills and a collaborative approach to problem-solving.
