Job Description

Job Evaluation:

  • The quantitative performance for this role will be evaluated based on (1) enabling a safe and clean work environment, (2) on-schedule, on-budget, and high-quality installation and commissioning activities, (3) in-house and customer infrastructure availability and data reporting, (4) training, mentoring and supporting the development of direct reports and (5) growth of the services business. The qualitative performance will be measured based on promoting a one-team, high-performance, and accountability-driven culture throughout the organization.

Responsibilities:

  • Ensure a safe work environment for all employees and stakeholders, a 5S workspace, and safe operations of the company’s assets.
  • Hands-on implementation and day-to-day management of all aspects of hydrogen systems operations, including:
  • Commissioning of complete hydrogen solutions which include but are not limited to the on-site generations, compression, storage, distribution, and dispensing.
  • Arrange all the necessary certifications including TSSA, ESA, and ESafe or equivalent.
  • Support customer utilization products which could include hydrogen fuel cells, hydrogen ICE, and blended fuel applications
  • After-sales service growth support
  • Establishing standard operating procedures
  • Procurement and supplier management support
  • Establish and manage standard operating and work procedures
  • Build out a complete inventory management and support system for all service items capable of supporting NHC requirements and 3rd party support companies
  • Mentor colleagues to allow them to reach their potential and where appropriate, become TSSA-H2 certified technicians with the goal of NHC being the industry leader in hydrogen service and support
  • Service and Support presentations to internal and external stakeholders
  • Component and systems troubleshooting
  • Team growth and management, including:
  • Build the Service and Support team's abilities (partnerships with vendors to become their certified service partners)
  • Ensure the Service and Support team works closely with the Product Development, Engineering, and Manufacturing teams to ensure in-field experiences are communicated to the appropriate departments to assist with improving the overall product and refining the installation and commissioning, and serviceability of our products. Provide actionable and timely reports to help support this initiative and ensure strong transparency in the organization.
  • Manage 24/7 on-call service
  • Provide support as required to the Operations Manager and Manufacturing to optimize resource allocation
    • Ensure service milestones are met on time, with high quality, and meet established cost objectives.
    • Help to promote and expand service capabilities and scope, including new business/contracts and authorized service provider agreements for key equipment/components.
    • Ensure that operations are compliant with all provincial and national regulatory standards pertaining to health and safety, quality, and labour management.
    • Proactively pursue strong positive relationships with all company staff. Promote a culture of accountability. Promote an atmosphere exuding confidence, excitement, and enthusiasm.

Preferred Experience/Qualifications:

  • TSSA-H2 Certified Technician with a minimum of 3 years’ experience in the Hydrogen Industry.
  • Minimum 10 years of hands-on experience working with electrical, automation, process equipment installation, wiring, commissioning, and service.
  • 5 years of leadership or supervisory experience
  • Experience in fleet management - desired
  • Strong skills in:
  • In-facility and on-site team leadership
  • Leadership and communication: team direction, training/coaching, motivation
  • Customer relations and management
  • Product and system troubleshooting
  • Mechanical, electrical, and controls experience
    • Previous Experience using CAD systems - desired.
    • Knowledge of quality management systems
    • Knowledge of ERP systems - desired.
    • Adept in MS Office applications – Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Project.

Education:

  • Completed a post-secondary diploma or specialized course in a related field to electro-mechanical technology or equivalent experience and demonstrated ability and accomplishments.
