Job Description

The Senior Portfolio Trading Analyst will play a pivotal role in ensuring efficient and accurate trading operations across various asset classes. Reporting to the Chief Investment Officer, you will collaborate closely with Portfolio Managers, the Accounting team, and Compliance to support Order Generation, Account Rebalancing, Corporate Actions, and Post-Trade Analysis. This position offers the opportunity to work at the intersection of trading, analytics, and portfolio management, with significant exposure to diverse financial instruments and cutting-edge systems.

This is a permanent, full-time role based out of their downtown Toronto office (100% onsite).

Key Responsibilities
  • Support daily trading operations for the Portfolio Management Team, including order generation, trade processing, and settlement across various asset classes such as Equities, Fixed Income, and Derivatives.
  • Prepare and deliver comprehensive portfolio reports, including sector/attribution analysis and monthly risk assessments for the investment team.
  • Maintain, monitor, and rebalance portfolios to align with Portfolio Manager models, ensuring accurate and timely updates.
  • Proactively investigate and resolve trade discrepancies with prime brokers, custodians, and external partners, ensuring timely and accurate settlement.
  • Collaborate with internal teams to communicate trade allocations, verify settlements, and resolve discrepancies effectively.
  • Perform daily reconciliations between internal and external systems, identifying and resolving any inconsistencies promptly.
  • Research and validate corporate actions across multiple markets, ensuring accurate reflection within portfolios.
  • Update and maintain investment portfolios on Bloomberg, ensuring data accuracy and completeness.
  • Develop and enhance investment/macro models to support portfolio management decisions.
  • Identify process improvements to enhance operational efficiency and mitigate potential risks.
  • Ensure adherence to compliance and regulatory requirements, implementing best practices across operational processes.
Qualifications / Essential Skills
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Finance, Accounting, or Economics
  • 3–5 years of middle-office experience within the investment management industry is highly desirable
  • Proficiency with Bloomberg systems is required.
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills; familiarity with VBA programming and SQL is advantageous.
  • Strong understanding of financial markets, including Equities, Fixed Income, and Derivatives.
  • Exceptional analytical and problem-solving skills, with high attention to detail.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to translate complex information into actionable insights.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
  • Proactive approach to identifying opportunities for process optimization and improvement.
