Our client is a well-established and trusted commercial flooring specialist headquartered in Ottawa, Ontario. We are seeking an experienced and dynamic Senior Project Manager - Construction to oversee flooring projects within the construction industry for large commercial space. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in managing diverse flooring installations and collaborating with architects, designers, and builders to deliver exceptional results. The Senior Project Manager will be responsible for planning, coordinating, and executing projects, ensuring they are completed on time, within budget, and to the highest standards of quality.

Responsibilities

• Develop comprehensive project plans, assign tasks, and manage personnel effectively to ensure smooth execution.
• Recruit, allocate, and manage workforce across multiple sites, addressing performance issues and taking corrective actions as necessary.
• Coordinate efforts across teams and locations, including architects, designers, and builders, to ensure uniformity and seamless project completion.
• Ensure timely delivery of projects to build and maintain client trust while avoiding penalties and delays.
• Work within budget constraints by accurately estimating labor, materials, and overhead costs.
• Procure and allocate resources to prevent shortages and minimize delays caused by management decisions.
• Identify and mitigate internal and external risks, such as design flaws or suboptimal product selection.
• Oversee installations across various flooring types, including:
• Soft Flooring: Carpet tiles, broadloom, pattern-match carpets, and resilient sheet goods.
• Hard Surfaces: Ceramic, porcelain, and thin porcelain tiles.
• Specialty Flooring: Rubber flooring, epoxy (liquid flooring), Raised Access Floors (RAF) such as TATE and ASM, and hygienic wall systems (e.g., Altro).
• Collaborate with architects and designers to align flooring selections with project aesthetics and functionality.
• Work closely with builders to ensure smooth integration of flooring installations into overall construction plans.

The ideal candidate will possess strong leadership skills, with a proven ability to communicate effectively and inspire teams. You will have a talent for building rapport and fostering a collaborative team environment, while ensuring excellent service delivery on time and on budget. Exceptional organizational skills are essential, ensuring efficient daily job allocations and smooth project execution. A deep understanding of project planning, resource acquisition, and process optimization is required, alongside proficiency in risk assessment and proactive problem-solving. Financial acumen is crucial to manage and adhere to project budgets effectively. The candidate should also be open to feedback and committed to continuous improvement in production quality.
