Carp, ON

Posted: 06/17/2025 Employment Type: Full-Time Specialization: Construction Job Number: 33204

Job Description

Position Title: Senior Project Coordinator

Location: Ottawa, Ontario

Work Model: Onsite

Additional Notes:

Our client is a well-established contracting firm specializing in commercial, industrial and design-build projects. We are seeking an experienced Senior Project Coordinator to support and oversee commercial electrical projects across Eastern Ontario, including Chalk River, Hawkesbury, Kingston, and Gatineau. This role is ideal for a highly organized, detail-oriented professional with a strong background in electrical contracting, procurement, client & vendor relations and project coordination.

As part of a close-knit team in a collaborative office environment, the Senior Project Coordinator will manage equipment coordination, purchasing, procurement reviews, and site support from project inception through completion.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Coordinate all phases of commercial electrical projects, ensuring schedules, budgets, and deliverables are met.
  • Manage procurement processes: source and order materials, evaluate vendor quotes, and track deliveries to ensure site readiness.
  • Prepare and track all project documentation including RFIs, change orders, shop drawings, and closeout reports.
  • Support site teams by coordinating equipment needs, purchase orders, and pre-qualification for work orders.
  • Oversee documentation flow through Field Wire, SharePoint, and other digital tools.
  • Submit redline drawings using Bluebeam or BIM software; collaborate with foremen and engineers to finalize documentation.
  • Maintain accurate records of project activities, site progress, and compliance with contractual and safety requirements.
  • Assist with design and coordination using AutoCAD, BIM, or related platforms when needed.

The ideal candidate will bring a minimum of 5 years of experience in project coordination within the electrical contracting or construction industry and a university degree in applicable area. They will have a strong understanding of commercial electrical systems, construction processes, and the full project life cycle. Proficiency in AutoCAD, Revit, and other BIM-related software is essential, along with the ability to read and interpret blueprints, specifications, and electrical schematics. The role requires excellent communication, organizational, and time management skills, as well as the ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment. Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite—including Excel, Word, Outlook, and Project—is also required. Bilingualism (English and French) is considered an asset, but not required, due to the bilingual nature of the client base.

What would make you stand out:

  • Hands-on experience with commercial electrical projects spanning multiple regions, with a strong track record of managing complex timelines and coordinating across multiple teams and job sites.
  • Advanced proficiency in AutoCAD, Revit, Bluebeam, and BIM coordination tools, with the ability to produce and review detailed redline drawings and support design revisions.
  • Strong procurement and vendor management skills, including experience with high-volume purchasing, supplier negotiation, and materials tracking in a construction environment.
  • Bilingual fluency in English and French, enabling seamless communication with diverse clients, contractors, and stakeholders throughout Eastern Ontario.
