Our client is seeking a Senior Manager, Audit and Assurance to help lead their Ottawa Tech Team. This role is geared toward candidates with a passion for public accounting and a goal to one day reach partnership.

Key Responsibilities

Client & Portfolio Management

  • Manage the accounting, audit, and tax service needs of a portfolio of clients across a range of industry sectors.
  • Meet with clients regarding financial statements, other business matters, and engagement issues.
  • Provide journal entry and account reconciliation guidance to clients.
  • Identify new business opportunities and actively participate in business development.

Engagement & Financial Management

  • Manage the engagement process from initial scheduling, planning, and work delegation through to client review and financial statement sign-off.
  • Discuss proposed time budgets with partners and assign engagement budgets to staff.
  • Manage WIP (Work in Progress) and Accounts Receivable.

Tax Support

  • Support personal and corporate tax filings for many portfolio clients.

Team Leadership & Performance Management

  • Effectively manage a team of Staff Accountants, Senior Staff Accountants, and Managers.
  • Review work and provide meaningful feedback on each engagement.
  • Conduct timely performance reviews and provide performance feedback and coaching.

The ideal candidate is a team player with excellent problem-solving, interpersonal, and client/customer service skills. You possess strong verbal and written communication skills in English, demonstrate effective planning and organization, handle multiple assignments with ease, and show an ability to adopt and deploy new technology to streamline work and create efficiencies.

Qualifications:

  • Completion of all requirements to obtain CPA designation.
  • Minimum of 7 years of experience, with 4 of those years spent working as a manager in a Public Accounting Firm.
  • Strong knowledge of accounting principles.
  • Strong knowledge of MS Office including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
