Senior Accountant

A prestigious and growing owner-managed retail organization is seeking a reliable and detail-oriented Senior Bookkeeper to join its team. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys working in a hands-on environment and has experience supporting the day-to-day finance operations of a retail business.
The successful candidate will play a key role in managing the company’s financial records, ensuring accuracy, and supporting management with reporting and operational insights.
Key Responsibilities:
- Manage full-cycle bookkeeping, including Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, and General Ledger
- Perform bank reconciliations and support budgeting and financial reporting with management
- Maintain and oversee inventory accounting and inventory records
- Conduct online banking activities and monitor cash transactions
- Prepare and submit HST returns, EHT, WSIB remittances, and bi-monthly payroll deductions
- Ensure compliance with tax filing requirements and regulatory deadlines
- Process bi-weekly payroll
- Prepare year-end working papers and support external auditors
- Work closely with ownership and management to review reports, resolve issues, and support special projects
- Maintain strict confidentiality with all financial information
- Provide general office and administrative support as required
Qualifications:
- Proven experience in full-cycle bookkeeping
- Prior experience working in owner-managed companies within the retail sector is required
- Strong understanding of inventory accounting and retail operations
- Experience with payroll processing and statutory remittances
- Highly organized with excellent attention to detail
- Strong communication skills and ability to work collaboratively with leadership
- Comfortable working in a hands-on, fast-paced environment
