About the firm:
A supply distribution company that services the GTA and surrounding areas with top-quality products and delivery. We have an exciting opportunity for their Controller. You will be a key member of the Finance team; you will be dedicated to ensuring accuracy, compliance, and efficiency in all financial reporting. You will also support operational efficiency.
Essential Tasks:
- Obtains and maintains a thorough understanding of the financial reporting and general ledger structure.
- Ensures internal control and audit compliance.
- Provides continuous efforts to evaluate and maintain a system of controls over accounting transactions.
- Assists in the development and implementation of new procedures and features to enhance the workflow of the department.
- Handles all accounting activities for Yvon including but not limited to daily transactions, month-end close, and year-end reporting.
- Vendor payment management (EFT, Wire, Cheque) and ERP payment clearance
- Facilitates and supports monthly close procedures
- Ensures the timely reporting of all monthly financial information
- Supports annual physical inventory count
- Supports the Accounting team with special projects and workflow process improvements
- Performs various month-end procedures and entries, including preparation of monthly and quarterly financial statements, review, and analysis
- Assists in the year-end reporting, monthly reporting, budgeting, and audit procedures
- Provides analytical support to other departments as needed
- Prepares various ad hoc financial reports
- Cross -rains and serves as back-up for other accounting duties
- Maintain a safe working environment by following the firm's health and safety guidelines
- Performs other related duties as required
Education Requirement:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting required
- Enrolled in an Accounting program, or designated an Accountant
Experience for this role:
- Greater than three years prior experience at an Accountant level

- Able to handle multiple tasks and stay organized
- Confidence to question and challenge supervisors
- Proactive in all functions; organized and possess a very high attention to detail

- Advanced computer skills (Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook)
- Proficiency with ERP systems, including Microsoft
