We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Accountant to join our client's construction division and play a pivotal role in the management of key accounting functions. The ideal candidate will bring strong technical accounting knowledge and practical experience in construction or project-based environments. This role requires a proactive professional who can ensure accurate and timely financial reporting, support critical decision-making, and collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams to drive project and organizational success.


Key Responsibilities:
  • Assist in treasury management, including monitoring cash flow requirements and ensuring sufficient liquidity for ongoing projects.
  • Reconcile inter-company transactions and balances to maintain accurate financial records.
  • Prepare Monthly, Quarterly, and Annual HST Returns in compliance with regulatory requirements.
  • Collaborate with the Project Monitor to produce timely cost-to-date reports to support project financing decisions.
  • Prepare and analyze Work-in-Progress (WIP) Reports and Job Cost Analysis Reports to track project performance.
  • Continuously assess gross profit margins by individual projects and across the overall portfolio.
  • Support month-end and year-end close processes, ensuring completeness and accuracy of financial data.
  • Liaise with external auditors, providing documentation and explanations necessary for reviews and compilations.
  • Perform other accounting duties as required, including mentoring and supporting junior staff.

The ideal candidate
is a detail-oriented and proactive accounting professional with a university degree or college diploma in Accounting (or a related field) and 3–5 years of relevant experience, ideally within a construction or project-based environment. A CPA designation—or progress toward it—is considered an asset. You will demonstrate strong analytical skills, excellent attention to detail, and the ability to quickly learn and adapt to new systems and processes. You are highly organized, able to manage competing priorities, and communicate effectively with both internal teams and external stakeholders, thriving in a fast-paced, collaborative environment.


What will make you stand out:
  • Progress toward, or completion of, a CPA designation.
  • Hands-on experience with construction accounting, project cost tracking, or integrated ERP systems.
  • Exceptional proficiency in Excel and other accounting software to analyze complex data.
  • Proven ability to work independently while supporting and mentoring junior team members.
