Work Model: Hybrid (4 days onsite, 1 day remote)

We are seeking a detail-oriented and proactive Property Accountant / Full-Cycle Bookkeeper to oversee the full-cycle accounting for a portfolio of residential and/or commercial properties. This role is responsible for ensuring accurate financial reporting, maintaining strong controls, and supporting property operations through timely and insightful financial information.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage the full-cycle accounting process for an assigned portfolio, including monthly and year-end close activities.
  • Prepare accurate monthly and quarterly financial statements, supporting schedules, and management reports for internal stakeholders and property owners.
  • Maintain and monitor detailed records of rental income, operating expenses, capital expenditures, and recoveries.
  • Prepare and review journal entries, accruals, and general ledger reconciliations to ensure accuracy and completeness.
  • Perform bank and balance sheet reconciliations, investigating and resolving discrepancies in a timely manner.
  • Support the preparation of annual operating and capital budgets, track financial performance, and provide variance analysis.
  • Act as a key point of contact for property managers, owners, tenants, and auditors, providing clear and responsive financial support.
  • Contribute to year-end processes, including preparation of working papers and audit support.
  • Identify and implement opportunities to improve accounting processes, enhance reporting, and drive efficiencies.

The ideal candidate brings a strong foundation in accounting, supported by a diploma or degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field, along with approximately five years of progressive experience—preferably within property management or real estate. They possess a solid understanding of full-cycle accounting and accrual-based reporting, combined with at least three years of hands-on experience using Yardi for residential and/or commercial property accounting. Technically proficient, they are comfortable working with Excel and ERP systems, while also demonstrating a high level of accuracy, analytical thinking, and the ability to manage competing priorities in a fast-paced environment. Just as important, they are an effective communicator who collaborates well with property managers and internal stakeholders to deliver clear, timely financial insights.

  • Strong financial analysis capabilities, with the ability to translate data into meaningful insights and proactively identify trends, risks, and opportunities.
  • Experience managing both residential and commercial portfolios, including CAM reconciliations and tenant chargebacks.
  • A process improvement mindset, with a track record of streamlining workflows, enhancing reporting accuracy, and implementing best practices.
