Job Description

Our client, a leading tier-1 electronics hardware provider is seeking a Product Lead Engineer for their Product Quality team. This is a permanent, full-time position located in Markham, Ontario. Reporting to the Product Quality Manager, you will primarily be responsible for the implementation of changes to current model products.

Responsibilities:

  1. Asses change impacts, manage production trial runs, and lead validation efforts for product changes such as supplier/component substitutions, customer-initiated changes, and design improvements.
  2. Ensure changes are launched on time and with minimal quality risk.
  3. Develop and validate PPAP documents.
  4. Manage product changes utilizing tools such as APQP, FMEA, and Control Plans.
  5. Manage and validate prototype builds and ensure on-time shipments to customers.
  6. Play a lead role in addressing critical production quality issues.
  7. Utilize 8D methodologies in identifying quality issues, coordinating root cause analysis/investigations, implementing containments, and driving corrective/preventive actions.
  8. Lead and implement PFMEA activities across the plant.
  9. Participate in continuous improvement initiatives and Zero-Defect programs.

Requirements:

  1. BSc. In Electrical or Mechanical Engineering (Canadian Degree equivalency is required).
  2. Hands-on Engineering and Project Management experience within a high-quality, process-driven, regulated product manufacturing environment (tier-1 Automotive industry experience is preferred).
  3. Quality Engineering experience within Manufacturing along with an understanding of product assembly processes (Electronics is preferred).
  4. Proven project management/coordination skills.
  5. Analytical mindset with hands-on experience with quality tools and methodologies such as 8D, FMEA, Control Plans, Six Sigma, and LEAN Manufacturing principles.
  6. Strong interpersonal skills, highly collaborative with a can-do, winning attitude.
  7. Strong communication (verbal and written) skills.
