Role: Principal – Income Tax

Due to demand and growth, Ryan is seeking a Principal for their Income Tax Practice, who will play a pivotal role as a leader in the firm’s Canadian income tax practice. Key Responsibilities would include, but not limited to:

  1. Client Engagement:
  • Advise and support clients in income tax planning, consulting, and compliance.
  • Delivers and supervises engagement work delegated to managers and staff.
  • Serves as subject matter expert for income tax-related matters in Canada.
  • Works within the Practice to develop new tax planning ideas to deliver to clients.
  • Foster and maintain strong client relationships.
  • Identify opportunities for service expansion and cross-selling
  1. Leadership & Strategic Planning:
  • Support clients to develop tax planning strategies.
  • Identify initiatives to improve service delivery and profitability
  • Stay current on industry trends and regulatory changes.
  • Assists in the general operations and administration of the practice.
  1. Practice Growth & Team Development:
  • Identify networking opportunities to enhance the firm’s visibility
  • Contribute to business development strategies.
  • Develop tax training presentations for the tax practice and prospective & existing clients.
  • Develop tax templates for use in client engagements to streamline delivery.
  • Creates a positive team experience, supporting the growth and development of a high-performing tax team.

Who We Are Looking For:

  • Minimum 12 years of professional experience in income / corporate tax planning and advisory service, ideally in public accounting
  • Strong expertise in federal and provincial income tax legislation
  • Strong understanding of accounting tax provisions under IFRS, ASPE, and US GAAP
  • Strong understanding of inbound/outbound tax issues including application of international tax treaties and Canadian foreign affiliate regulations.
  • Experienced with tax research and preparation of tax memorandum.
  • Willingness to review and prepare tax deliverables.
  • Excellent communication skills, adept at simplifying complex tax concepts for clients and colleagues.
  • Proven leadership abilities, fostering collaboration environments for career advancement with an ideal background of managing a minimum tax team of 4 professionals.
  • Capacity to cultivate client relationships and identify business growth opportunities with an ideal background of managing a minimum of 10 clients.
