Job Description

Our client a tier 1 global operation is seeking a talented Manager of Payroll for a newly acquired division. This role is ensuring the efficiency and effectiveness of the payroll processes. Your leadership will guide the team members to excel in their roles, fostering an environment where corporate goals are not just met but surpassed.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide leadership and mentorship to the payroll team, overseeing recruitment and performance management.
  • Ensure accurate and timely payroll processing, compliance with regulations, and preparation of reports.
  • Evaluate department performance and implement improvements to enhance efficiency and effectiveness.
  • Lead by example, providing mentorship and coaching to team members to help them achieve their potential and meet objectives.
  • Objectively recommend compensation adjustments and manage all aspects of performance for the payroll team
  • Oversee the accurate and timely preparation of payroll payments, maintaining confidentiality and integrity of payroll information.
  • Coordinate special payments and manage recovery processes for overpayments.
  • Facilitate off-cycle cheque processing and ensure compliance with regulations and agreements.
  • Ensure operational efficiency and compliance with regulatory requirements, including Revenue Canada, Employment Standards, and Union collective agreements.
  • Prepare required returns and reports, maintain proper retention of payroll documents, and participate in audit activities.
  • Develop team members, promote continuous learning, and monitor productivity and efficiency standards.

Qualifications:

  • CPM designation required.
  • Minimum 5 years of full cycle Payroll experience in a high-growth environment. With 2 years of overseeing a payroll team.
  • Strong month and year-end reconciliations and reporting.
  • Multi-provincial legislation and supporting 7+ union agreements
  • Advanced knowledge of ERP payroll systems and CRA guidelines.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and fluency in English and French.
