Job Description
About the Role:
Our client is seeking an experienced Payroll Analyst with strong systems knowledge to join their team on a permanent basis. You will work collaboratively on a team of 7 staff to manage the full cycle payroll for approximately 800-900 staff in unionized and nonunion environments.
Responsibilities:
- Prepare and process weekly payroll for Union, Non-Union hourly, and salaried employees.
- Ensure completeness and approval of all data files before transmission to the payroll service provider.
- Review and validate the accuracy of approved timesheets and other input documents.
- Manage garnishments and other special payroll deductions.
- Administer issuance of T4’s, ROE’s, T2200, and various payroll reports as requested.
- Ensure accurate and timely salary/wage payments in adherence to regulations.
- Collaborate with HR and other departments to maintain accurate and up-to-date payroll and personnel records.
- Assist in preparing year-end reports and filing annual returns with federal/provincial governments.
- Prioritize tasks to meet deadlines effectively.
- Maintain confidentiality of employee records.
- Serve as the primary point of contact for all payroll-related inquiries.
- Coordinate with team members to allocate responsibilities and prioritize tasks, ensuring timely completion.
Qualifications:
- PCP (Payroll Compliance Practitioner) certification or working towards it is advantageous.
- Sound understanding of legislation and the Employment Standard Act across Canada.
- Proficiency in Excel.
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in payroll.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, with problem-solving abilities.
- Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment, demonstrating dedication.
- Capacity to work within tight payroll deadlines.
- Strong emphasis on attention to detail and numeracy skills.
- Excellent planning, organization, and time management abilities.
