About Our Client:

Our client is an industrial machinery manufacturing company and part of one of the largest extruding companies in North America, providing specialised downstream equipment for the plastics industry. They are seeking an experienced and self-directed PLC Programmer to design, develop, test, and commission the automated control systems that run the custom and specialised machinery.

Responsibilities

Work closely with the Project Manager, Mechanical Designers, and Senior Engineers to integrate automated controls into new and existing equipment designs.

Design, develop, and implement PLC and HMI programs to control downstream extrusion machinery

Contribute to the design and programming of improvements and efficiency upgrades for existing machinery and control systems.

Read and interpret complex electrical schematics and machine sequence diagrams and translate customer operational specifications into secure, reliable code.

Develop robust control systems with a strong understanding of manufactured equipment, including power transmission design, motor control, and safety circuits.

Test and commission automated equipment on the factory floor to ensure seamless function and system validation.

Requirements

A minimum of 5 years of experience in PLC programming and industrial automation, ideally within the machinery manufacturing or plastics processing industries.

Proficiency in Siemens PLC platforms and their associated development environments is required.

Strong understanding of industrial networking protocols and experience with HMI/SCADA development.

Strong electrical and mechanical aptitude with hands-on experience in control panel wiring and troubleshooting.

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate with cross-functional engineering and production teams.
