Work Model: Hybrid - 3 days per week onsite/2 work from home

Our client is seeking a motivated and strategic professional to provide a one-year maternity leave coverage as Manager, Major Gifts and Donor Engagement. This role is responsible for advancing the organization’s fundraising efforts by developing and implementing strategies to cultivate and steward relationships with individual and corporate donors. Reporting to the Director of Development, the Manager will play a key role in identifying and securing mid-level and major gift opportunities while strengthening donor engagement and long-term philanthropic partnerships. This position combines strategic planning with hands-on execution and is well suited to a proactive professional who is skilled in relationship building, research, proposal development, and project management.


Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement strategies to identify, cultivate, and secure mid-level and major gifts from individual and corporate donors.
  • Conduct prospect research to identify new funding opportunities across the private and public sectors and support the development of donor pipelines.
  • Collaborate with the Director of Development to plan and execute donor outreach initiatives that strengthen engagement and long-term relationships.
  • Prepare tailored funding proposals, briefing materials, and donor communications aligned with organizational priorities and donor interests.
  • Coordinate and manage stewardship activities, ensuring donors are effectively recognized, informed of impact, and engaged in the organization’s work.
  • Track and manage donor engagement activities, proposals, and funding opportunities to ensure timely follow-up and strong relationship management.
  • Support the planning and execution of donor meetings, presentations, and engagement opportunities.
  • Work cross-functionally with internal teams to gather program information, develop compelling funding narratives, and align fundraising initiatives with organizational priorities.
  • Monitor progress toward fundraising goals and provide updates and reporting to support development planning and strategy.

With strong communication and storytelling skills, you can translate ideas and initiatives into compelling opportunities that motivate donors to take action. You bring a strategic mindset combined with strong organizational and project management skills, enabling you to manage multiple priorities while delivering results. You are equally comfortable working independently and collaboratively, using research, donor insights, and data to guide your approach. With at least 3–5 years of nonprofit fundraising experience and a demonstrated ability to cultivate and secure major gifts, you understand the importance of professionalism, follow-through, and thoughtful stewardship in building lasting philanthropic relationships. You are also committed to fostering inclusive and respectful environments and are eager to contribute to a team that values collaboration, learning, and shared purpose.


What will make you stand out:
  • A proven track record of successfully cultivating and securing major gifts from individual donors, supported by thoughtful stewardship and relationship management.
  • Strong prospect research and donor management skills, including experience using donor databases and online tools to guide moves management strategies.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to craft compelling proposals and engage donors through persuasive storytelling.
  • Bilingualism (English and French), experience with Raiser's Edge NXT, or a CFRE designation would be considered strong asset.
