About Our Client

Our client is a well-established manufacturing organization committed to operational efficiency, quality, and continuous improvement. They focus on streamlining processes, maintaining strong supplier partnerships, and fostering a collaborative work environment. They are seeking an experienced Materials Manager to oversee the planning, procurement, and distribution of materials while ensuring smooth production operations and timely delivery.

Pay: CA$75,000 – CA$85,000 per year

Responsibilities

Inventory & Supply Chain Management

  • Oversee inventory levels to meet production needs while optimizing working capital.
  • Implement and maintain inventory management systems such as Kanban, MRP, and Just-in-Time programs.
  • Utilize ERP/MRP systems to monitor stock, improve data accuracy, and streamline procurement.
  • Source and purchase materials, components, and supplies to support production schedules.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with suppliers to ensure quality, reliability, and cost-effectiveness.
  • Evaluate supplier performance and identify opportunities for cost savings and process improvement.
  • Collaborate with production scheduling to ensure materials are available for on-time delivery.
  • Maintain traceability of material usage and track consumption for reporting and forecasting.
  • Analyze trends and data to improve inventory planning, reduce waste, and increase efficiency.

Team Leadership & Development

  • Lead and mentor the materials team, fostering professional growth and accountability.
  • Promote a culture of continuous improvement using Lean and Six Sigma principles.
  • Encourage cross-functional collaboration with Production, Scheduling, and Engineering teams.

Vendor & Quality Management

  • Monitor supplier performance and address any quality or delivery issues promptly.
  • Support initiatives to improve incoming material quality and operational efficiency.

Compliance & Safety

  • Ensure materials management processes comply with company policies and safety standards.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in supply chain management, Operations Management, or a related field.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in materials, inventory, or supply chain management within a manufacturing setting.
  • Proficient in MRP/ERP systems and advanced Excel for data analysis and demand forecasting.
  • Strong leadership, team development, and cross-functional collaboration skills.
  • Demonstrated experience in strategic planning, negotiation, and supplier management.
  • Analytical, detail-oriented, and results-driven with a continuous improvement mindset.
  • Knowledge of Lean and Six Sigma methodologies is a plus.
