Director, Safety, Risk & Fleet Management

Overview
This senior leadership role is responsible for enterprise-wide safety, risk, security, and fleet management. The Director sets strategy and drives execution to protect people, assets, and operations while ensuring regulatory compliance, financial discipline, and continuous improvement across a complex transportation environment.


Key Responsibilities

Strategy, Risk & Leadership

  • Own the organization’s safety and risk management strategy, ensuring audit readiness and regulatory compliance.

  • Lead incident response, investigations, corrective actions, and continuous improvement initiatives.

  • Partner with executive leadership, Operations, and HR to align safety and risk programs with business objectives.

Fleet Safety & Compliance

  • Lead all fleet safety and compliance programs, including driver safety, IFTA, licensing, permits, insurance, maintenance, and cost controls.

  • Oversee driver onboarding, training, performance management, and safety KPIs.

  • Manage insurance claims and insurer relationships to reduce risk exposure.

  • Use data and reporting to identify trends, mitigate risk, and improve fleet performance.

Health, Safety & Security

  • Direct company-wide Health & Safety programs, committees, inspections, and WSIB management.

  • Oversee site and product security programs, including access controls, surveillance, and secure freight handling.

  • Ensure compliance with CTPAT, PIP, and related security standards.

Financial & Vendor Management

  • Manage departmental budgets with a focus on cost control and ROI.

  • Oversee vendor relationships, contracts, and performance.


Qualifications

  • 7+ years’ experience in safety, fleet, or risk management (transportation/logistics preferred).

  • Proven leader in high-volume, operational environments.

  • Strong knowledge of IFTA, WSIB, CTPAT, and PIP.

  • Data-driven, with strong analytical and reporting skills.

  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management abilities.

  • Proficiency in MS Office and fleet management systems.

  • AZ license/experience preferred.

  • Ability to pass a criminal and credit check.


Base Salary Range - $120,000 - $135,000
