Our client offers many career opportunities with current US assets under management valued at $20 billion. They are currently seeking a Manager - Procurement to support their Director – Procurement Development and help to build and form a leadership team for the procurement function for sites across the US.

As the Manager of procurement, you will work with the Director to help support various business units across the organization in forming a shared service for US operational procurement. Supporting finance, business development, operations, and engineering, the Senior Manager will collaborate with internal procurement and legal professionals while engaging with external consultants. As the SME, you will manage and guide the entire bidding process including preparing RFPs and bidding documents, ensuring contracts meet corporate legal requirements, and partnering with stakeholders to understand requirements and anticipatory needs. You will take ownership of the integrity of the bidding processes and develop a matrix and KPIs to evaluate efficiencies, cost-effectiveness, and benchmarks for compliant proposals. The Procurement Manager will be critical in building and nurturing positive and productive relationships with vendors and preparing final supplier recommendations for senior leadership. Working closely with the corporate legal team, you will drive the negotiation processes and ensure final agreements meet all terms and regulatory requirements. Mentorship and guidance to a small team will be essential to the growth of the department. This role will be working with large-scale development projects, therefore experience working with EPC initiatives is critical for this role. Experience specifically in the energy sector is highly desirable.

The Ideal Candidate will have over 5 years of procurement and you are ready to take the next step to a management role. Post-secondary education in procurement, supply chain, or engineering is needed and any additional relevant certifications in the field are a huge asset. You will understand or be able to adapt to new industries seamlessly because you bring experience from complex organizations with robust procurement functions. You will be able to demonstrate how you have built strong relationships with vendors and contractors in Canada or the US, and how you have fostered successful RFP and past bidding processes. Any experience in the energy sector or highly regulated environment will be highly beneficial. Throughout your work experience, you will be able to speak to your negotiating expertise and thorough understanding of service and product contracts that are highly technical. Your strong governance and experience with internal controls and processes and building a best-in-class function are welcome. Your proactive approach to procurement strategy will be encouraged and we need a strong communicator who isn’t afraid to come to the table with their new ideas. A positive attitude, willingness to bring a strong work ethic, and lead by example are required for the role. Bilingualism is an asset, but not required. A hybrid work environment is expected.

What will make you stand out:

  • Minimum 5+ years in a procurement function
  • Exceptional negotiation skills and project management
  • Proven ability to cultivate relationships with external vendors and internal stakeholders
  • Proficient with RFP, RFQ, and RFI bidding processes

If you have experience working with EPC contracts, preferably in the energy sector but large-scale construction will be considered, we want to hear from you. If you are in Ottawa, or thinking of relocating and Ottawa is on your radar, contact us at to discuss further.
