Job Description

The Manager, Talent Development & EDI collaborates with corporate and site HR teams to develop, implement, and manage the organization's people management processes and culture initiatives. The role plays a critical part in enhancing employee growth, supporting performance management, and driving organizational culture improvements.

This is a hybrid role based out of their downtown Toronto office. 

Key Responsibilities:

Performance Management:

  • Support the performance management cycle to ensure consistent application and clear understanding across the organization.
  • Deliver training on the performance management process to new HR leads and corporate employees as needed.
  • Regularly review and update training materials to incorporate best practices and feedback.
  • Communicate schedules, milestones, and process updates clearly to stakeholders.
  • Monitor adherence to performance management processes and ensure timely completion.

Employee Development & Mentoring:

  • Identify and coordinate individual development opportunities, including external training, coaching, and 360-degree feedback.
  • Support the design and implementation of training programs aligned with organizational goals.
  • Work with managers and employees to create and implement individual development plans.
  • Manage relationships with third-party vendors, ensuring high-quality services.
  • Maintain accurate records of talent development and keep an updated roster of external coaches and coaching engagements.

Talent Reviews & Succession Planning:

  • Partner with stakeholders to ensure talent reviews and succession planning processes effectively support the talent pipeline at all levels.
  • Coordinate with HR site leads to ensure timely completion of talent reviews.
  • Support the execution of talent reviews for the corporate office and maintain thorough records.
  • Update succession planning templates for management discussions.

Engagement & Culture:

  • Develop, implement, and promote employee surveys and action plans to enhance engagement and strengthen organizational culture.
  • Support the company-wide engagement survey process, including setup, communication, and analysis of results.
  • Serve as a key resource for site leads regarding the online survey platform.
  • Promote Culture Plan and ensure alignment with organizational values and goals.

Equity, Diversity & Inclusion (EDI):

  • Support the planning and execution of EDI initiatives, including events like the Speaker Series.
  • Partner with HR to track and report on EDI demographics and progress.
  • Attend industry forums related to EDI and present key learnings to the corporate EDI committee.
  • Manage additional EDI projects as assigned.

Integration of New Sites:

  • Ensure smooth integration of new sites into organization’s talent development processes.
  • Provide necessary tools and resources to facilitate the effective transition of new sites.
  • Offer ongoing support to new sites to address integration challenges and ensure alignment with organizational practices.

Onboarding Tools/Resources:

  • Enhance the onboarding experience for new employees through continuous improvement of program materials.
  • Collaborate with HR to regularly update and improve onboarding resources 
  • Ensure onboarding materials are comprehensive, up-to-date, and aligned with best practices.

Experience and Qualifications:

  • Post-secondary education in Human Resources or a related field, or equivalent experience.
  • 5 years of demonstrated expertise in implementing talent development strategies and processes.
  • Certification in Equity, Diversity & Inclusion is a valuable asset.

Knowledge and Skills:

  • Proven ability to address equity, diversity, and inclusion issues for underrepresented groups.
  • Familiar with relevant legislation related to discrimination and equity.
  • Strong relationship-building and influencing skills to support talent development and EDI goals.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills for preparing reports, presenting findings, and engaging with diverse stakeholders.
  • Proficient in analyzing data to track the effectiveness of talent development and EDI programs; strong Excel and PowerPoint skills required.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously, including setting objectives, timelines, and ensuring deliverables.
