Position Title: Manager, Property Accounting

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Manager of Property Accounting to lead a fantastic property accounting team and oversee day-to-day operations. The ideal candidate will have strong technical accounting expertise, excellent leadership abilities, and a proven ability to collaborate effectively with various stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities

  • Property Accounting Oversight: Manage all aspects of property accounting, including general ledger maintenance, month-end/year-end close processes, financial reporting, and variance analysis.
  • Internal Reporting: Oversee the preparation and delivery of comprehensive monthly reporting packages for both residential and commercial portfolios.
  • Financial Presentation: Clearly articulate financial results and insights to senior leadership and executives.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with operations teams to ensure the accuracy and completeness of financial data.
  • Budgeting and Forecasting: Support the creation and management of budgets and forecasts for residential and commercial properties.
  • Cash Management: Ensure efficient management of rent collection, vendor payments, and bank and CAM reconciliations.
  • Team Leadership: Lead, mentor, and develop the property accounting team, fostering professional growth and team success.
  • Audit Coordination: Liaise with external auditors, providing all necessary documentation for audits and compilations.
  • Process Improvement: Identify and implement process improvements, including enhancements to the Yardi system.
  • Ad Hoc Responsibilities: Perform additional duties as required to support the team and organization.

The ideal candidate will hold a university degree or college diploma in Accounting or a related field, complemented by 5 years of progressive accounting experience, including at least 2 years in a supervisory role. Experience in property accounting is highly preferred, and a CPA designation or progress towards it is considered an asset. Proficiency in Yardi software and Microsoft Excel is essential, along with strong analytical and problem-solving skills and a keen attention to detail. The candidate must be an effective communicator with the ability to collaborate across departments and demonstrate strong leadership skills to support and develop their team. Highly motivated and proactive, the successful candidate will thrive in a fast-paced environment while maintaining a focus on excellence and accuracy.
