About the Role:

This position focuses on collaborating with the Director of Internal Audit to effectively drive the execution of internal audit and Sarbanes-Oxley (SOX) initiatives and strategies. Under the direction of the Director, the Internal Audit Manager will oversee a team of audit professionals and subject matter experts, assisting in the identification and management of various business risks, including strategic, reputational, governance, operational, financial, and compliance risks. This will involve designing and implementing audits and advisory reviews of differing complexities as well as contributing to the SOX program. The successful candidate will also provide leadership, coaching, and development support to audit team members, ensuring both operational excellence and individual growth within the team.

Responsibilities:
  • Conduct risk assessments, scope audits, and develop testing plans.
  • Execute fieldwork, including testing key controls and procedures.
  • Ensure timely completion of audit tasks.
  • Supervise and review work produced by the internal audit team and external contractors to guarantee quality and adequacy of documentation and conclusions.
  • Analyze audit findings to uncover root causes of control deficiencies.
  • Wrap up audits, including facilitating closing meetings with management to discuss findings.
  • Draft or review audit reports, ensuring findings are clear, constructive, and based on factual evidence, along with providing actionable recommendations.
  • Assist in advisory services, investigations, and various ad-hoc projects as requested by the Director of Internal Audit.
  • Help prepare presentations for Audit Committee meetings.
  • Verify the implementation of management action plans related to previously reported internal audit findings.
  • Spearhead the SOX program across all locations:
  • Collaborate with the Internal Audit team to plan the SOX program, including risk assessment and process control scoping.
  • Assign qualified auditors to engagements and manage resource allocation based on availability and deadlines.
  • Conduct and/or review assessments of design and operational effectiveness during fieldwork.
  • Review identified deficiencies, including preliminary assessments of their severity.
  • Manage the conclusion of fieldwork and communicate SOX testing results to management.
  • Prepare or review SOX deliverables, such as scoping documents and result reports for management.

Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field
  • 7-10 years of progressive experience including experience managing a team
  • CPA or CIA designation is required
  • Audit experience from Big 4 firms considered a strong asset
  • Strong experience with SOX programs
  • Familiarity with multinational, multi-location organizations with decentralized management structures is preferred.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication abilities.
  • Strong decision-making and analytical capabilities.
