Our reputable client in the investment management sector is seeking a permanent Manager, Finance to join their team!
The Manager, Finance will play a key role within the Finance and Operations team of the Private Equity group, focusing on fund operations and private reporting requirements. The position will involve oversight of financial reporting for both private and public sectors, managing treasury functions, and ensuring the smooth operation of fund processes. This role requires working closely with senior management and various service providers to ensure timely and accurate reporting.
This role is 100% onsite based out of their downtown Toronto office.
Key Responsibilities:
Quarterly Reporting & Performance Tracking
- Review quarterly reports to investors and other stakeholders, including financial statements prepared under US GAAP and tracking of fund and investment performance.
- Evaluate public reporting templates prepared according to IFRS standards.
- Review investor PCAP and available commitment schedules on a quarterly basis.
Presentation & Senior Management Interaction
- Present quarterly results to senior management, providing clarity on key financial and operational metrics.
Collaboration with Service Providers
- Partner with various service providers to ensure accurate and timely delivery of information.
Valuation & Investment Reviews
- Conduct quarterly reviews of fund investment valuations.
- Review accounting packages for individual legal entities, including tax financials.
Audit & Compliance
- Prepare internal and external audit requests and maintain necessary control documentation.
- Review capital calls and distributions to investors.
Fund Operations Management
- Assist in managing fund operations, addressing investor queries, forecasting, and ensuring compliance.
- Provide a thorough understanding of the legal structure of various funds, and its impact on fund flows and consolidation.
Accounting & Reporting Improvements
- Analyze complex accounting issues and assist in improving the reporting processes.
- Actively coach and mentor team members.
Special Projects & Ad Hoc Requests
- Participate in special projects and handle ad hoc requests as needed.
Requirements:
Educational Background
- University degree.
- Professional accounting designation (CPA/CA preferred).
Experience
- Minimum of five years of progressive experience in finance and/or accounting roles.
- Experience in private funds and a strong understanding of the investment management industry, including complex ownership structures, is highly advantageous.
