About our Client

Our client is a purveyor of pipes, valves, fittings and other waterworks and water treatment goods across the country. They are currently looking for a Material Handler to join their dynamic team in Nanaimo on a full-time temporary basis. The shifts run at 6:30 am, Monday to Friday. In this role, you will be responsible to fulfill customer orders, receiving shipments, check inventory, pack and load orders for shipment. Salary - $24 an hour

Responsibilities

• Picking product and materials as per customer order requirements
• Labeling and preparing order for shipment, ensuring all documentation relating to customer order is complete and filed
• Loading and unloading trucks in proper sequence for safe and efficient delivery
• Making sure that inventory is placed in a correct location and all equipment is in good working condition
• Communicating mechanical/maintenance issues to supervision
• Maintaining warehouse and storage yard in a clean and orderly manner
• Responding to warehouse inquiries as required/requested
• Operating overhead crane (where available) as required
• Participating in warehouse physical inventory
• Assisting customers at warehouse sales counter

Requirements

• Secondary school diploma and/or a combination of education and experience is required
• A forklift certification is a plus
• A minimum of 1 year experience in warehouse environment is a must
• Experience in operating mechanical devices is a must
• Familiarity with mechanical/industrial pipes, valves and fittings is an asset
• Must be able to perform physical tasks
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Familiar with Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook
• Ability to organize and prioritize work effectively
• Ability to work under pressure
