Position Title: Intermediate Accountant
Contract Duration: 6 months

Our client is a well-established non-profit, membership based organization, that is seeking some financial support. We are seeking a detail-oriented and proactive temporary Intermediate Accountant to support our client’s finance and accounting operations. You will be responsible for maintaining accurate financial records, assisting with budgeting and audit preparation, and ensuring compliance with internal policies and external regulations. We are looking for someone who can work independently, and is immediately available for a 6 month + contract.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Prepare and process journal entries, accruals, and reconciliations for month-end and year-end closing.
  • Maintain and reconcile general ledger accounts.
  • Assist in the preparation of monthly financial statements and internal reports.
  • Track and report on restricted and unrestricted funds, grants, and donations.
  • Support budgeting and forecasting processes.
  • Prepare documentation and support for annual audit, liaising with auditors as needed.
  • Reconcile bank accounts and review transactions for accuracy and compliance.
  • Review the accounts payable and receivable functions, to ensure accuracy
  • Contribute to improving internal controls, accounting policies, and financial procedures.
  • Support other finance-related duties as assigned.
The ideal candidate will hold post-secondary education in accounting and a minimum of 4 years of relevant accounting experience—preferably within the non-profit or charitable sector. A solid understanding of ASPE accounting practices is essential, along with strong organizational and analytical skills and a keen attention to detail. Proficiency in accounting software such as QuickBooks, and advanced Microsoft Excel skills are essential. You must be able to work independently, manage deadlines, be resourceful and communicate effectively with team members and stakeholders. Fund accounting or grant reporting will be considered strong assets. We are looking for someone who thrives in a collaborative office environment and enjoys being part of a team, while also demonstrating the initiative to take direction and work independently. A strong ability to dive into details, investigate discrepancies, and find accurate solutions will be key to success in this role.
