Job Description

Manager, Business Development & Commercialization – Mobility Sector

Overview

Use your business and technical expertise to strengthen Ontario’s innovation economy and help position the province as a global leader in automotive and mobility technologies. You will support companies, identify high-potential technologies, foster industry–academic partnerships, and drive commercialization across the mobility ecosystem.


Key Responsibilities

  • Serve as a mobility-sector expert (EV/AV/CAV) and track emerging technologies, trends, and market needs.

  • Build and maintain strong networks across industry, academia, investors, and government.

  • Conduct outreach to companies and become a go-to resource for Ontario’s mobility landscape.

  • Identify commercialization opportunities and provide business and technical guidance to innovators.

  • Review proposals and RFQs; support program delivery, funding targets, and key account management.

  • Lead priority initiatives, workshops, and collaborations, including national and international projects.

  • Represent the organization at events and work with Communications to share success stories.

  • Maintain sector databases and contribute insights that shape program and strategy development.


Preferred Experience & Skills

  • Background in mobility-related fields (AI, software, sensors, powertrains, materials, batteries, HMI, etc.).

  • Strong understanding of EV/CV/AV/CAV technologies and mobility business models.

  • Established network across SMEs, academia, investors, and ecosystem partners.

  • Excellent analytical and communication skills; comfortable simplifying complex technical content.

  • Confident public speaker; proficient in MS Office and CRM tools.

  • Experience reviewing technical proposals; knowledge of government programs is an asset.
