About Our Client
Our client, an Eastern European–inspired bistro and cocktail restaurant with a 110-seat venue generating over $2 million in annual revenue, known for its refined cuisine, creative cocktails, and warm hospitality, is seeking a Head Chef to lead its culinary operations and uphold its reputation for excellence. Compensation

  • Base Salary: $70,000
  • Gratuities: $13,000 annually
  • Bonus Program: $5,000–$10,000 annually
  • Meals: Complimentary during working shifts
  • Total Compensation: $95,000+ annually



Responsibilities

  • Lead and inspire a team of 10 cooks to deliver exceptional food quality and presentation.
  • Collaborate with ownership and management on seasonal menu development and long-term culinary strategy.
  • Maintain brand integrity through thoughtful and modern menu execution.
  • Oversee daily kitchen operations, ensuring organization, cleanliness, and health and safety compliance.
  • Manage food and labor costs, forecasting, and inventory control to meet financial goals.
  • Negotiate with suppliers for quality ingredients and competitive pricing.
  • Train and mentor staff in culinary techniques, standards, and company values.
  • Implement systems that promote efficiency, consistency, and waste reduction.
  • Ensure all dishes meet brand quality and presentation standards.
  • Partner with the General Manager to align culinary and service excellence.
  • Support event execution, seasonal promotions, and marketing initiatives.
  • Foster a kitchen culture rooted in creativity, respect, and accountability.
  • Recruit, train, and retain back-of-house talent to minimize turnover.
  • Maintain equipment and ensure all kitchen tools operate efficiently.
  • Lead by example with professionalism, integrity, and a passion for excellence.

Qualifications

  • 3–5 years of experience as a Head Chef or Senior Sous Chef in a high-volume, full-service restaurant.
  • Proven success in team leadership, training, and performance management.
  • Strong financial acumen, including budgeting, food cost, and labor management.
  • Expertise in menu design, recipe development, and flavor balance.
  • Excellent communication, leadership, and organizational skills.
  • Familiarity with Eastern European or modern bistro cuisine is an asset.
  • Culinary diploma or equivalent professional training preferred.
  • Commitment to sustainability, local sourcing, and responsible kitchen practices.
  • Ability to perform under pressure in a fast-paced environment.
  • Proficiency in inventory and food cost systems.
  • Flexible availability, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
