Job Description
About the Firm:
On September 28, 2018, firms reached financial close on a 36-year contract for the design, construction, financing, operation, maintenance, and rehabilitation of the Gordie Howe International Bridge Project [the “Project”], a new international crossing between Windsor, Ontario, and Detroit, Michigan. The Project is procured by a Canada Crown corporation, Windsor Detroit Bridge Authority [“WDBA”], which includes the following components.
Essential Tasks:
- Oversee HR activities on the project and ensure that all are in accordance with human
- resources policies and compliance with Federal and Provincial employment and labour laws,
- acceptable practices, and regulations.
- Recruitment
- Advise clients on role requirements, development of role profiles, and job analysis.
- Provide headcount projection and strategic workforce planning support.
- Collaborate with hiring managers to schedule and participate in interviews as needed.
- Interview alongside hiring managers, performing thorough candidate assessments.
- Provide feedback to applicants and candidates who have applied and/or been interviewed.
- Compensation &Benefits
- Conduct compensation impact analysis as required, for various purposes including streamlining
- and organizational structure analysis, market data assessments, and recommendations.
- Work with the Home Company Human Resources team on any disability case management
- Employee Relations
- Effective situation/ conflict management, working closely with managers to ensure employee
- relations issues are handled professionally and timely.
- Identify potential employee relations issues, resolving them as appropriate and elevating them to legal and
- senior human resources management as needed.
- Proactive outreach HR communications (supporting town halls, leadership/ operational team
- meetings, etc.)
- Case management and investigations
- Coaching managers and employees as required, applying progressive discipline principles as
- appropriate.
- BNAOM Policy interpretation and application.
- Work closely with applicable JV home company HR teams to facilitate promotions, demotions,
- transfers, relocations, retirements, and terminations in a professional manner. Ensuring
- balance between project and employee needs

- Talent Management
- Support managers with performance management and objective setting during the regular
- cycle as well as when required. Effectively creating clear connections to Project plans.
- Facilitate Talent Reviews for the project teams and ensure appropriate follow-up on actions.
- Ensure training needs for the business are evaluated and appropriate training selected,
- reinforced and tracked.
- Support succession management initiatives and ensure appropriate succession plans are in
- place for the project.
- Programs
- Develop and maintain HR policies, manuals, plans, and supporting materials.
- Support the roll-out of various company initiatives as required and alter if necessary to suit the
- BNAOM.
- HR Team Management
- Work closely with the JV Partner Human Resources teams to keep them continually up to date
- on all project's Human Resources issues.
- Qualifications: Superior problem-solving skills, ability to demonstrate agility in creating valuable solutions to
complex issues quickly.
Versatility in the HR portfolio is required;full scope employee life cycle, compensation, recruitment,
and talent management are a must. Organizational development experience is highly desirable.
Tactful and effective written and verbal communication skills, ability to interact with all levels
within the organization and influence as required.
Strong analytical skills;ability to digest complex issues and simplify to enable appropriate
action
Ability to build a consensus among peers to support human resources strategies.
