About our client:
Our client within the manufacturing and distribution space is looking for an Accountant to manage their transactional accounting across two operating companies. Responsibilities include general accounting transactions (invoicing, bill entry, AR/AP, payroll,
expenses, and HST reporting) and banking transactions. To be successful in this role, you should have previous experience with bookkeeping, a flair for spotting numerical mistakes, and be detail-oriented.
Responsibilities:
- Primary administrator and accounting functions in our ERP system Oracle Netsuite (new
customer/vendor setup, invoicing, bill payments, banking transactions)
- Prepare and send customer invoices and liaise with customer service to ensure invoicing
accuracy
- Manage accounts receivable & accounts payable and communicate with customers
regularly to ensure timely payments
- Manage banking transactions, account activity, and monthly bank reconciliation
- Oversee payroll through a third-party system (Payworks)
- Complete bookkeeping duties and oversee the online expense system (Expensify)
- Monthly HST filings, WSIB payments, and various other expense payments for utilities,
rent, service providers
- Follow month-end procedures to close financial books
- Perform intercompany transactions between two sister companies, both operating on
same Netsuite software program
- Compile and analyze financial reports as requested
- Manage high-level banking relationships and propose new banking and financing
options to optimize company performance
- Prepare tax documents, provide annual reporting to third-party accounting firms,
and help facilitate the preparation of year-end financial statements
- Seek to optimize spending with various company vendors such as insurance brokers,
landlord, other service providers
- Manage budgeting and forecasting with the sales management team
- Manage foreign currency including Euros, CAD. and US dollars
- Verify receipts, income tax returns, financial statements, ledgers and other documents
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting or related field
- Minimum 3-5 years experience in a small to mid-sized business
- Proficiency in Oracle Netsuite is an asset
- Experience in a manufacturing environment is an asset
- Understanding of foreign exchange and how to minimize impact is an asset
- Thrive in making quick decisions with a small and dynamic team
