Job Description

Our client is a well-established non-profit, membership based organization, that is seeking some financial support. We are seeking a seasoned Financial Consultant to work at a senior level to strengthen our financial management, ensure compliance, and support strategic decision-making.

The Financial Consultant will play a critical role in evaluating the current financial situation, overseeing the accounting team, and ensuring accurate financial reporting. You will work collaboratively with stakeholders and leadership to review financial systems and applications, financial processes, assist in developing and managing budgets and ensure timely reporting. The consultant will also provide financial governance, ensure compliance, and offer expert financial advice to guide the organization.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Financial Assessment and Strategy:
    • Conduct a comprehensive evaluation of the organization's current financial situation.
    • Identify areas for improvement and recommend strategies for financial growth and sustainability.
  2. Accounting Oversight:
    • Supervise and support the accounting team in managing day-to-day operations.
    • Ensure the accuracy and timeliness of financial records.
  3. Stakeholder Collaboration:
    • Work with multiple internal and external stakeholders to align financial goals with organizational objectives.
    • Provide clear and actionable financial insights to the leadership team.
  4. Financial Reporting:
    • Develop and deliver accurate and timely financial reports to key stakeholders.
    • Ensure compliance with financial reporting standards and donor requirements.
  5. Systems and Applications:
    • Review existing financial systems and applications.
    • Recommend and implement improvements to enhance efficiency and accuracy.
  6. Budget Development and Management:
    • Assist with the preparation, review, and management of organizational budgets.
    • Monitor budget performance and provide recommendations for adjustments.
  7. Financial Governance and Compliance:
    • Ensure adherence to financial governance best practices and regulatory compliance.
    • Develop policies and procedures to enhance financial accountability.
  8. Financial Advice:
    • Provide expert guidance on financial planning, risk management, and investment opportunities.
    • Support the organization in making informed financial decisions.

The ideal candidate will have a CPA designation and a minimum of 7+ years in a financial leadership role, bringing proven experience in a senior financial leadership role, within the NGO sector. Your strong expertise in financial systems, governance, and compliance, as well as a demonstrated ability to analyze complex financial data and present actionable insights. Proficiency in financial software and tools is essential.

This role requires excellent leadership and team management skills, with the ability to guide and support an accounting team effectively. You will be a strategic thinker with exceptional analytical and problem-solving abilities, strong communication and interpersonal skills, and a commitment to strong financial practices. You must be adept at working with diverse stakeholders, including donors, partners, and internal teams, and have the capacity to thrive in a fast-paced, multi-priority environment.
