They are currently seeking a Director of Procurement Development to support their VP of Finance and take accountability for the negotiations, and construction agreements for sites across the US.

As the Director of Development Procurement, you will lead the sourcing and negotiations for long-term service agreements for the operations and maintenance of numerous locations. Supporting multiple portfolios like Business Development, Construction, Operations, and Finance, you will help with procurement engagements throughout the US operations. You will help lead the procurement & sourcing strategies to maintain cost efficiencies and exceptional service. As the leader, you will be the chief negotiator with external vendors and help secure strong relationships and terms of business. You will review the existing contracts, and help consolidate, eliminate, or renegotiate terms where required while overseeing the entire RFP / RFQ / RFI processes from contract to delivery. The Director will allocate resources to specific projects and workflow, review commercial bids, and ensure conditions and contracts are well documented in collaboration with the legal team. A proven ability to work with stakeholders to understand RFP requirements while maintaining bid integrity is needed. The Procurement Director will also help evaluate proposals and ensure they meet compliance requirements for a public company and make recommendations to the senior leadership team as required. Working with legal counsel on exceptions and terms is needed and establishing metrics to evaluate contract effectiveness will be expected. Finally, the Director will be required to have their pulse on areas of risk and have recommendations for risk mitigation and management for supply contracts. Staying current on pricing and trends will be critical.

The Ideal Candidate will bring 10+ years of progressive experience leading a procurement department. You will be able to demonstrate progressive growth throughout your career and a minimum of 5 years of management and leadership experience. Knowledge of utilities or large-scale projects would be considered a huge asset. Any experience doing procurement both in Canada and the US would be an asset but a deep understanding of pricing, contract negotiations, trend analysis, and building and evaluating metrics is essential. We are looking for someone who understands and has put in place long-term service agreements and can prove their exceptional negotiating effectiveness. You will know how to put complex contracts in place and can speak about how you have minimized risk on your past teams. Your stellar leadership skills will help guide your team, but your demonstrated influential skills will help you to have an impact on your business partners. You will be an open communicator, a natural leader, and a proud performer who likes to build high-achieving teams around them. You will bring a proactive approach and an anticipatory strategic mind to your portfolio and think outside the box when it comes to building a best-in-class operation. You will have post-secondary education in Procurement or Supply Chain, with an emphasis on engineering and operations. You will hold a PMP, PMAC, or Supply Chain certification and prove your expertise in both service and product-based contacts.
