Our client is a well-known NGO located in the heart of downtown Ottawa. With a nationwide reputation, our client has experienced strong momentum and growth over the past 12 months. We have an immediate open role for a Software Developer, to report to the Digital Operations group and support the Director. We are looking for a dynamic and motivated Developer who can help develop and maintain the systems and applications within Digital Operations. You will work with various platforms and contribute to the overall user and client experience. You will be expected to collaborate with cross-functional teams to help design and develop the digital applications. You will be able to program in HTML5, CSS, PHP, and JavaScript and help enhance the functionality of digital operations. Working with a lean team, the Developer will be involved in the full software development life cycle, and be an expected contributor from analysis, and design to testing and deployment. You will play a key role in implementing automation solutions to deliver a reliable, efficient, and secure platform while troubleshooting any problems. You will be expected to help ensure a seamless digital operation while constantly evaluating ways to improve. The Developer will be the link that maintains the digital connection and pulse throughout the NGO.



The ideal candidate will bring 1-2 years of experience working in web development, website management, and database management. We are looking for someone with post-secondary education in Information Technology or Computer Science and who has some hands-on experience with web development for client-side and server-side scripting. You will be able to speak to your experience coding in HTML5, CSS, and JavaScript, and a high proficiency with PHP. You will know how to create or work with existing frameworks and content management systems, (Ex-WordPress, Symfony/Silex, GRAV, etc.), and be familiar with APIs, and CRMs. A thorough understanding of source control, various databases, and AWS environment will be needed. We are looking for someone who is team-minded, forward-thinking and doesn’t mind working some overtime during busy projects. The right candidate will be used to working in a lean IT shop and has a passion for the non-profit sector.
