Our client in the tourism and travel industry is seeking a permanent full-time Destination Development Manager (in a Project management/coordination type seat) to help drive strategic initiatives that enhance visitor experiences, strengthen community partnerships, and support sustainable tourism growth.
What You'll Be Doing
Destination Development & Strategic Initiatives
- Support the implementation and ongoing success of the organization's Destination Master Plan.
- Coordinate with industry partners, community organizations, government stakeholders, and internal teams to advance key initiatives.
- Track project milestones, measure outcomes, and prepare progress reports.
- Conduct research and identify opportunities to improve destination development strategies.
- Stay informed on tourism and destination development trends across Canada and internationally.
Visitor Experience & Stakeholder Engagement
- Collaborate with municipal partners, tourism stakeholders, and community groups to enhance the visitor experience.
- Support initiatives focused on accessibility, mobility, safety, and creating a welcoming destination.
- Share visitor insights and industry trends to support planning and decision-making.
- Participate in cross-functional and cross-sector working groups focused on tourism development.
Sustainability & Community Impact
- Lead and support sustainability, social impact, and community engagement initiatives.
- Manage programs that promote responsible and inclusive tourism practices.
- Coordinate partnerships, budgets, events, and volunteer initiatives tied to community impact programs.
- Support legacy projects and initiatives that create lasting economic, social, cultural, and environmental benefits.
- Administer and oversee industry certification and recognition programs.
Academic & Workforce Development
- Build relationships with post-secondary institutions and industry partners.
- Support student engagement opportunities, workforce development initiatives, and industry outreach programs.
- Act as a liaison between educational institutions and the tourism sector.
What We're Looking For
Experience
- 2-4+ years of experience in destination development, tourism, economic development, stakeholder engagement, partnerships, sustainability, or a related field.
- Experience coordinating projects involving multiple stakeholders, including industry, government, and community partners.
- Experience managing programs, initiatives, or strategic projects.
- Experience working with academic institutions, industry associations, or community organizations is considered an asset.

Education
- Post-secondary education in Tourism, Business, Public Policy, Urban Planning, Sustainability, Communications, or a related discipline.
