About Our Client

Our Toronto based Fin-Tech client is looking for a Temporary, Contract Controller that has experience working in depth with Revenue Recognition. This is an immediate six month contact, temporary position.

Responsibilities
  • Review the monthly revenue recognition for all revenue streams and approve the month-end journal entries;
  • Review the combined analysis of contracts in progress and deferred revenue and approve the journal entries;
  • Perform an analytical review of the operational cost centers income statements to identify potential mistakes or missing accruals and prepare adjusting entries accordingly;
  • Review the intercompany sub-contract general ledger accounts and ensure they are reconciled and cleared in a timely manner;
  • Supervise the monthly Accounts Receivable closing process;
  • Review the monthly Revenue analysis and Management report prior to distribution;
  • Monitor the WIP/Deferred Revenue report and unbilled pass-through costs to identify potential billing risks and opportunities and drive the assessment of recoverability of WIP. Cleanse non-billable items regularly;
  • Track and review pending change orders to ensure timely recognition of revenue and billing of services in excess of initial contractual agreement;
  • Develop and maintain financial controls over accounting transactions in accordance with the company’s procedures.

Qualifications

  • CPA or international equivalent
  • Minimum 5 years accounting experience in a senior revenue accounting or full cycle financial management role.
  • Advanced Microsoft suite, specifically Excel; Strong knowledge of financial and ERP systems
  • Strong communication skills, bilingual in both verbal and written, and the ability to effectively interact with senior management team and individuals with varying degrees of financial knowledge;
  • Impeccable analytical and organizational skills;
  • Reliable and adaptable team player with the ability to work well under pressure.
