About the Firm:
A developer in the interiors of retail and local services buildings with a time to completion model that is unique to this industry. A Controller is required to oversee and closely monitoring the company financial health. Maintains and manages the day-to-day financial needs of the company, the accounting department and analyze financial statements, payroll, budgets, tax compliance issues, and more.
Essential Tasks:
- Lead and be accountable for all aspects of the Finance Department in accordance with GAAP.
- Participate as part of Leadership team.
- Manage accounting team and workload.
- Develop & maintain financial controls.
- Mitigate financial risk.
- Oversee accounting software.
- Establish & manage financial reporting systems.
- Manage financial statements.
- Manage and track company overhead budget.
- Manage accounts receivable and accounts payable.
- Manage weekly payroll.
- Support project accounting.
- Manage assets and cash-flow
- Improve, develop, manage, and maintain a documented system of accounting policies & procedures.
- Manage year-end closure.
- Collaborate with external Accountant, Banker for reporting, compliance, etc.
- Develop annual budget & forecast with sales, margins & overhead expenses.
- Prepare monthly PL and balance sheet on-time and accurate with all adjustments.
- Manage month-end closing procedures and execute on-time.
- Maintain & reconcile GL accounts.
- Manage the accounting team - direct workload, ensure accuracy, provide training.
- Support Project Managers in monitoring project costs in line with subcontract values and following up on needed change orders.
- Oversee & prepare weekly payroll.
- Comply with Provincial & Federal reporting requirements - Taxes, Payroll, HST, EHT, WSIB, T4s, T5018s, etc.
