About The Role:
Our client a leading company based in Mississauga, is seeking a Controller to join their growing team. This is a permanent, in-office position is ideal for an experienced accounting professional with strong leadership skills, hands-on full-cycle accounting experience, and a solid understanding of ASPE, IFRS, and intercompany transactions across multiple legal entities.
The Controller will play a critical role in consolidating financial statements, streamlining accounting processes, and driving financial accuracy, while directly supporting senior leadership with clear and strategic financial reporting. This role offers a fast-paced environment with ample opportunity for career growth as the company continues to expand.
What You’ll Do:
- Oversee full-cycle accounting, including month-end and year-end close processes, ensuring financial accuracy and compliance.
- Prepare and consolidate financial statements and management reports for presentation to the head office.
- Manage intercompany transactions across multiple legal entities, ensuring accurate financial reporting and account reconciliation.
- Lead and mentor a team of 3 direct reports, fostering a collaborative and high-performing team culture.
- Provide financial analysis, insights, and recommendations to senior leadership to drive business performance.
- Ensure compliance with ASPE and IFRS accounting standards.
- Streamline and improve accounting processes to enhance efficiency and accuracy.
- Oversee audits, tax filings, and regulatory compliance, acting as the key point of contact for external auditors.
- Partner with the Director of Finance on strategic financial planning and forecasting.
- Prepare and review GST/HST/QST declarations and ensure all government remittances are completed accurately and on time.
What You Bring
- CPA Designation (CA, CMA, or CGA) is required.
- 5+ years of experience in a Controller or senior-level accounting role in a similarly sized company.
- ASPE and IFRS experience with a strong understanding of financial reporting and full-cycle accounting.
- Proven intercompany transaction experience managing multiple legal entities, consolidating financials, and eliminating intercompany balances.
- Demonstrated leadership experience overseeing and mentoring a team.
- Strong communication and presentation skills to deliver financial results and insights to senior leadership.
- Ability to streamline processes, reduce inefficiencies, and improve month-end close timelines.
- Professional, mature demeanor with the ability to engage effectively with executive leadership and key stakeholders.
- Experience in manufacturing, distribution, supply chain, or transportation industries is an asset
