Job Description

Position Overview:

Our client, a reputable home builder is looking for a Controller to join their team and serve as the key finance advisor to the President. This role is responsible for driving sound financial strategy, overseeing risk management practices, and ensuring adherence to established accounting principles and regulatory standards.

Responsibilities:
  • Clearly communicate complex financial concepts to diverse audiences, including non-financial stakeholders
  • Skilled in financial modeling, planning, budgeting, and performance reporting
  • Maintain precision and thoroughness in financial documentation and transactions
  • Thrive in a dynamic environment by effectively managing multiple tasks and shifting priorities
  • Offer data-driven strategic insights and financial forecasts to support executive decision-making
  • Direct and enhance processes related to financial planning, budgeting cycles, and forecasts
  • Supervise core accounting functions such as payables, receivables, ledger maintenance, and financial statement preparation
  • Ensure all accounting practices align with applicable standards, tax obligations, and governance requirements
  • Strengthen internal control systems to protect company resources and ensure reliable reporting
  • Champion company culture and foster interdepartmental communication and process enhancements
  • Deliver accurate, timely financial reports and insights for leadership, board members, lenders, and other key stakeholders
  • Track key financial metrics, analyze trends, and recommend corrective strategies as needed
  • Manage relationships with external financing partners, including lenders and investors
  • Support growth initiatives by optimizing capital structure and financing strategies
  • Establish and oversee risk management frameworks to safeguard the company’s financial health

Qualifications:
  • Education in Finance & Accounting or related field
  • CPA designation a strong asset but not required
  • 10 years of progressive experience with a minimum of 3 years in a leadership capacity
  • Must have previous experience within Residential Real Estate Development
  • Strong knowledge of Accounting Standards for Private Enterprises (ASPE)
  • Ability to lead and mentor a high-performing finance team
  • Excellent strategic thinking, analytical, and problem-solving skills
  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills
