Salary & Benefits: $105,000-$115,000 plus bonus, 3 weeks' vacation, health benefits, pension and much more.

Position Status: New
Location: Ottawa, ON
Work Model: Onsite
Additional Notes:
Our client, is a well-established and locally trusted paving company serving Ottawa, Carp, and Arnprior. Specializing in asphalt, concrete, and interlock for both residential and commercial projects, they’ve built a strong reputation on quality workmanship, efficiency, and long-standing client relationships. They are now seeking an Operations Manager for their growing team.

Responsibilities Include:
  • Manage multiple active job sites (asphalt, concrete, interlock) across the Ottawa region
  • Oversee foremen and field crews, driving productivity, accountability, and performance
  • Coordinate daily scheduling of crews, equipment, and materials
  • Conduct regular site visits to monitor progress, quality, and timelines
  • Track job costs (labour, equipment, materials) against estimates and budgets
  • Identify and address cost overruns, delays, and operational inefficiencies
  • Enforce safety standards, company procedures, and best practices on all sites
  • Act as the main point of contact between ownership, office staff, and field teams
  • Provide regular updates to ownership on job status, challenges, and overall performance

As the Operations Manager, you will be responsible for overseeing multiple active job sites while acting as the key link between ownership, the office, and field crews. This is a hands-on leadership role where you will drive productivity, enforce structure, and bring accountability across operations. You will manage foremen and crews, coordinate scheduling, equipment, and materials, and ensure projects are delivered on time, on budget, and to a high standard. You will play a critical role in bringing organization and leadership to a growing team—monitoring job progress, tracking costs vs. estimates, addressing inefficiencies, and maintaining strong communication with ownership on overall job performance. The Ideal Candidate is a seasoned, hands-on operations leader who is comfortable being in the field and leading from the front. You bring strong construction or paving experience and have a proven ability to manage multiple crews and job sites simultaneously. You are someone who can step into a close-knit team, establish structure, and drive accountability—without disrupting the culture. This role requires a mature, confident leader who can balance relationships with performance expectations and isn’t afraid to make decisions. This is not a desk role—this is for someone who enjoys being on-site, problem-solving in real time, and keeping operations running smoothly.

What will make you stand out:
  • Experience managing multiple job sites in paving, construction, or similar environments
  • Strong leadership presence with the ability to bring structure to a growing team
  • Proven ability to manage crews, foremen, and drive accountability in the field
  • Experience tracking job costs, identifying inefficiencies, and improving margins
  • Hands-on, roll-up-your-sleeves mindset (not a “desk-only” manager)
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to work closely with ownership
  • Someone who can step into a tight-knit team and elevate performance without disrupting culture.
