Collections Manager
Location: Mississauga | Full-Time, Onsite | 12-Month Maternity Leave Contract (Includes Benefits)
We’re working with a well-established client in the transportation and logistics sector, seeking a Collections Manager for a 12-month maternity leave contract. This role is fully onsite from Monday to Friday at their Mississauga location and reports directly to the Director of Finance.
In this hands-on role, you'll lead a small team while overseeing the day-to-day credit and collections activities. You’ll take ownership of ensuring timely payments, resolving billing disputes, performing account reconciliations, and maintaining accurate records—all while driving improvements in the collections process and supporting the company’s overall financial goals.
Key Responsibilities:
Set department targets and collection goals
Monitor and follow up on overdue accounts via phone and email
Investigate and resolve account discrepancies to ensure timely payments
Review credit histories and suggest updated repayment terms when needed
Reconcile customer payments and maintain accurate aging reports
Respond to customer inquiries and resolve billing disputes
Perform credit checks and due diligence for new client onboarding
Escalate delinquent accounts to third-party agencies as needed
Issue credit notes and corrections
Provide guidance and coaching to team members
Identify and recommend process improvements in the AR cycle
Support other tasks and projects as required
You’re a proactive and goal-oriented credit and collections professional who thrives in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment. You bring strong leadership skills and a problem-solving mindset, paired with the ability to manage customer relationships with empathy and professionalism.
What You Bring:
5+ years of experience in credit & collections, ideally within a high-volume or fast-paced industry
2+ years of supervisory or team lead experience
Post-secondary education in Accounting, Business, or a related field (an asset)
Certifications in credit/collections (an asset)
Excellent communication, customer service, and negotiation skills
Experience in the transportation industry is a plus
Ability to manage competing priorities and work both independently and collaboratively
