TITLE: Brand Director
LOCATION: GTA - North Toronto area

ABOUT OUR CLIENT:
Our client, a high-growth personal care company, is looking for a strategic, agile, and innovative Brand Director to join their team and hit the ground running. This is an exciting opportunity for a highly motivated and innovative brand leader, who has experience in brand strategy, innovation, and communication. Ideally, this person will have a background in CPG, and a passion for the Beauty, Cosmetics, Personal Care, and Fashion/ Lifestyle sectors. This is a highly cross-functional role and the successful candidate will be required to collaborate with Sales, Marketing Communications, Product Development, Operation, Finance, Business Analytics, and senior leadership to develop and implement a strategy that aligns with the company vision and can drive brand growth.
RESPONSIBILITIES: The Brand Director will perform a diverse range of functions including but limited to:
- Brand Building - clearly and effectively get the brand’s purpose and vision out to accelerate growth
- Lead the development of brand management processes and capabilities, including competitive analysis, architecture mapping, planning, measurement, ROI, standards and governance
- Be responsible for overall brand ownership, including brand strategy, brand vision, mission, and goals
- Champion the brand internally and externally making sure all elements of the company and external stakeholders understand the brand and its goals
- Lead the development of go-to-market strategies, campaigns, and goals that drive consumer demand
- Lead productive, cross-functional relationships across all internal teams, including Sales, Marketing Communications, Operations, Product Development, Finance, Business Analytics, Regulatory, Quality Control, etc.
- Develop high-quality and effective marketing materials for toolkits that align correctly with the overall brand strategy
- Partner with key internal stakeholders and agency partners to develop and implement innovative strategies and promotional elements that drive sales
- Leverage consumer, category, and competitive insights to identify opportunities for brand development.
- Analyze and understand market and industry trends, sales data, and KPIs to perform competitive auditing and inform product development
- Lead new product concept processes, and collaborate with Demand Planning, Product Development, and R&D
- Lead Brand Communications Strategy and Innovation Strategy
- Develop and translate the brand voice through all marketing activations
- Develop compelling storytelling to represent the brand
- Develop high-quality and effective marketing assets such as brand videos, digital media assets, social media assets, and e-commerce assets
- Develop effective Go-To-0Market Strategies to drive market penetration and commercial success
- Lead the planning and execution of product launches
- Conduct in-depth analysis of competitors, categories, market, consumers, and products to garner insights to feed into the development of new products and go-to-market plans
- Analyze sales and marketing data to give key updates on the business and category.
- Evaluate the performance of executed activities and campaigns to ascertain their effectiveness in meeting brand objectives
- Track performance, identify issues, trends, and opportunities, and continuously improve plans and their execution
QUALIFICATIONS:
- 8+ years' experience in Brand Management within CPG/ Consumer Products
- Brand experience with Beauty, Cosmetics & Personal care preferred
- Knowledge of category (major competitors, target users, industry trends) preferred
- Strong project management skills
- Entrepreneurial spirit, curiosity, and initiative
- Driven to remove obstacles and accomplish goals
- Demonstrable track record of managing new products from concept development to launch and placement
- Ability to manage a portfolio of products
- Knowledge and experience in managing the product commercialization process
- Understanding of retail and shopper dynamics in Canada and the US
- Ability to analyze sales and market data
- Knowledge of AC Nielsen, Nielsen, POS, IRI, SPINS, or other CPG consumer/ customer Analytics is an asset
- Strong passion for beauty and trends, understanding of haircare and personal care market dynamics
- Previous experience in the beauty industry is preferred
- High proficiency in MS Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
- Hybrid Office: Able to work in-office 3 days/week
- Bachelor’s Degree (BS/BA in Business, Marketing, Social Sciences - Psychology, Sociology, Economics), MBA preferred
