Job Description

Our client, a leading international not-for-profit organization, is currently hiring an Associate Director of Financial Accounting to join their team.

Primary responsibilities:

  • Oversee all general accounting and property accounting functions for Toronto head office, as well as business units across Ontario
  • Recruit, train, supervise and develop staff
  • Assist in the development of accounting policies, procedures
  • Ensure all general ledger accounts are regularly analyzed, reconciled and approved and ensuring master chart of accounts is maintained at all times
  • Interact regularly with the internal and external audits regarding the audits of all entities
  • Oversee the preparation of client entities annual Registered Charity Information Returns by staff
  • Ensure returns are prepared in accordance with all applicable policies and guidelines
  • Support the client entities in the preparation of annual budgets
  • Ensure all transactions are properly approved and supported by adequate documentation
  • Visit business units in region periodically and provide financial consultation at least once a year
  • Ensure timely filing of tax returns for all business units, also provide guidance to each unit concerning GST/PST/HST matters
  • Manage the computer and information systems for the financial accounting group

Qualifications:

  • Completion of a related university degree
  • Completed a professional CPA designation
  • Strong leadership skills, and experience managing large teams
  • 5-7 years of related experience, including supervisory, budget management, and business management
  • Excellent communication skills
