Job Description

Assistant Controller

Our client is a well-established commercial real estate organization seeking a CPA for an Assistant Controller role reporting to the Controller.

Location: Vaughan – 5 days onsite

Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee and review property accounting activities
  • Review CAM, realty tax, tenant recoveries and billings
  • Review monthly reconciliations, HST filings and financial reporting
  • Support year-end audits and review working papers
  • Oversee MPAC submissions and tax recoveries
  • Lead, coach and develop the property accounting team
  • Drive process improvements, automation and system efficiencies
  • Partner with Property Management and resolve complex accounting issues

Ideal Background:

  • CPA from public accounting, ideally Senior/Manager level, with commercial real estate exposure; or
  • CPA with strong property accounting, ASPE
  • Experience with CAM, recoveries, realty tax and tenant accounting
  • Strong leadership and stakeholder management skills
