Location: Toronto, ON (Hybrid – 2–3 days/week in office)
Job Type: Full-Time, Permanent
Salary: $110,000–$130,000 + Discretionary Bonus

About the Opportunity

Our client, a highly respected professional services firm located in downtown Toronto, is undergoing a strategic redesign of its finance function and is seeking an Accounting Manager to lead this transformation.

This is a high-impact, hands-on leadership role reporting directly to the Executive Director. The successful candidate will be responsible for building and managing the organization’s financial infrastructure, including budgeting, forecasting, reporting, and internal controls, while providing strategic insight to support operational excellence and growth.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the development and management of the annual budgeting process
  • Create rolling forecasts, cash flow models, and financial projections
  • Oversee the general ledger, accounts payable/receivable, and month/year-end close
  • Design and implement internal controls, approval workflows, and accounting policies
  • Prepare and present monthly financial reports and dashboards to leadership
  • Monitor KPIs, departmental spending, and profitability metrics
  • Collaborate with HR, IT, and Marketing to align budgets and control spend
  • Support system selection and optimization
  • Liaise with external accountants, auditors, and legal/tax advisors
  • Supervise and mentor a small internal accounting team (3 direct reports)

What We’re Looking For

  • CPA designation (required)
  • Minimum 5+ years of financial management experience
  • Background in professional services (legal industry experience a plus, but not required)
  • Proven track record in budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning
  • Strong understanding of internal controls, fiscal governance, and financial policy development
  • Prior supervisory experience is an asset, but not mandatory
  • Proficiency with accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks) and Microsoft Excel
