Accounting Manager -Scarborough

We are seeking an experienced and hands-on Accounting Manager to oversee daily accounting operations and support the broader finance function. Reporting directly to the Director of Finance, this role covers a wide range of responsibilities—from managing bank reconciliations and accounts payable to processing payroll and preparing monthly financial reports. The ideal candidate will be comfortable working in a dynamic environment and ready to take on increasing leadership over time.
Perform monthly bank and credit card reconciliations (CAD & USD), maintain accurate records, and manage daily cash float updates.
Input and verify vendor bills in QuickBooks, ensuring alignment with purchase orders and packing slips; maintain up-to-date vendor records and resolve discrepancies.
Manage biweekly payroll, including tracking of vacation, overtime, and lieu time; prepare and submit payroll remittances (WSIB, EHT) in a timely manner.
Prepare and submit monthly financial reports, including Sales, Prepayments, Inter-company Transactions, and Commissions.
Lead bi-monthly cheque runs and manage the accounts payable schedule.
Participate in weekly production and engineering meetings to stay aligned with operational needs and provide financial insights.
Support ad-hoc tasks including invoicing, reception coverage, and other general finance/admin responsibilities as needed.
Minimum 3 years of accounting experience in a similar role.
Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
Actively pursuing or enrolled in the CPA program (designation preferred but not required).
Proficient with accounting software—QuickBooks Desktop experience is an asset.
Strong understanding of full-cycle accounting, including AP, AR, and financial reporting.
Organized, detail-oriented, and comfortable working to tight deadlines.
Excellent communication and problem-solving skills with a proactive approach to vendor and internal relationships.
Able to maintain confidentiality and exercise discretion at all times.
