About Our Client

Our client is a well-established elementary school in Vancouver, offering a supportive and structured learning environment for students. They are seeking a temporary Accountant/Bookkeeper to assist with their financial operations while their regular staff member is unavailable.

Job Details

• End Date: July 15, 2026
• Hours of Work: 8 am to 4 pm
• Pay Rate: $24–$25 per hour

Responsibilities

The successful candidate will be responsible for:

• Administering payroll.
• Processing payments (cheques/direct debit).
• Issuing monthly financial reports.
• Reconciling bank accounts and handling cash/non-cash journal entries.
• Preparing the audit package and assisting auditors during the yearly mandatory audit by the Ministry of Education.
• Completing a backlog of bank reconciliations, which will be an ongoing part of the position.
• Performing other administrative and accounting duties as needed.

Qualifications

• Proven experience with payroll is an asset.
• Experience with Sage50 is an asset.
• Previous experience working with full-cycle accounting or a strong understanding of the full-cycle accounting process.
• Experience with non-profit accounting and journal entries specific to the non-profit sector is highly desirable.
• Proficiency with Google Drive/Sheets and Excel is essential.
• Highly organized, detail-oriented, and able to work independently.
