About Our Client:
Our client, located in Toronto, is seeking an Accounting Specialist to join their Finance team.
Responsibilities:
- Prepare and post journal entries
- Ensure proper coding of deposits and manage unapplied cash
- Reconcile Accounts Receivable and investigate variances
- Calculate and remit premium tax instalments; prepare related returns and entries
- Prepare and upload premium accounting entries (Commissions, DAC, UPR)
- Support cash management and general ledger controls
- Assist with audits, regulatory compliance, and process improvements
- Participate in UAT and ad hoc finance projects
Qualifications:
- University degree in a relevant field
- 5+ years of experience in accounting; insurance industry experience is an asset
- Strong knowledge of accounting principles
- Intermediate to advanced Excel skills; experience with accounting systems (Oracle preferred)
- Detail-oriented with strong analytical and organizational skills
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
