Job Title: Controller
Location: Toronto, ON (Hybrid – 2 days per week in office)

Our client, a highly respected professional services firm in downtown Toronto, is redesigning its finance function and is seeking a Controller to help lead this transformation.
This is a high-impact, hands-on leadership role that will build and manage the organization’s financial infrastructure—covering budgeting, forecasting, reporting, and internal controls—while providing strategic insight to support operational excellence and long-term growth.
Lead the annual budgeting process and ensure alignment with strategic goals
Build and maintain rolling forecasts, cash flow models, and financial projections
Oversee general ledger, accounts payable/receivable, and month/year-end close activities
Design and implement internal controls, approval workflows, and accounting policies
Prepare and present monthly financial reports and dashboards to senior leadership
Monitor KPIs, departmental spending, and profitability metrics to support decision-making
Collaborate cross-functionally with HR, IT, and Marketing to align budgets and optimize resources
Support system selection, implementation, and ongoing optimization
Partner with external accountants, auditors, and legal/tax advisors
Lead, mentor, and support a small internal accounting team (3 direct reports)
CPA designation (required)
Minimum 5+ years of progressive financial management experience
Experience in professional services; legal industry experience is an asset but not required
Demonstrated expertise in budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning
Strong understanding of internal controls, fiscal governance, and policy development
Experience supervising or mentoring team members is an advantage
Proficiency with accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks) and Microsoft Excel
